Tanfloc has been successfully applied as a primary coagulant in wastewater treatment systems at red meat processing facilities across Western Australia (WA), New South Wales (NSW), and Victoria (VIC).
The product was dosed upstream of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units to treat high-strength effluents typical of the industry. The average wastewater characteristics from these sites included BOD at 5,434 mg/L, TSS at 3,086 mg/L, Total Nitrogen (TN) at 675 mg/L, Total Phosphorus (TP) at 52 mg/L, Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) at 1,600 mg/L, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) at 2,740 mg/L.
Following Tanfloc treatment, significant performance improvements were observed, with average removal efficiencies of 92% for TSS, 99% for FOG, 72% for BOD, 32% for TN, 22% for TP, 39% for TOC, and 33% for TDS.
These results highlight Tanfloc’s effectiveness in improving DAF performance and enhancing overall wastewater quality in red meat processing operations.
