In a high-capacity wastewater treatment operation processing 43 million litres per day at a pH of 6.9, Tanfloc 20% was applied at a dosage of 2 ppm as a flocculation auxiliary. The treatment achieved a 31.7% reduction in aluminium sulphate consumption and a 42.3% reduction in the use of alkalising agents.
The process also resulted in lower aluminium residuals in treated water, ensuring compliance with local regulatory standards. Improved decantation efficiency enabled increased water treatment plant (WTP) flow, extended the intervals between filter backwashes, and further reduced turbidity and colour.
The sludge generated contained low residual aluminium, and overall treatment costs were reduced by 25.7%, demonstrating both environmental and economic benefits.
