Water Treatment Plant Coagulant Replacement

A water treatment plant serving industrial operations operates two parallel systems: a rectangular settler with a baffle to enhance clarification before sand filtration, and a circular settler with central mixing. Both systems feed into a reservoir for factory use.

The existing metal-based coagulant (aluminium sulphate) was causing multiple issues, including high chemical costs, pH instability, equipment corrosion, and complex sludge disposal. Seeking a more sustainable and cost-effective solution, the plant trialled Tanfloc as an organic coagulant alternative.

The results were highly favourable— Tanfloc formed robust flocs with rapid settling, delivering improved clarity and operational performance. This made Tanfloc a viable and efficient replacement, enhancing water quality while reducing chemical dependency and associated maintenance concerns.
